THE CHIEF ASSETS OF WODZISŁAW ŚLĄSKI

1Wodzisław Śląski, as the southern gate to Poland, is the first large town located along National Road 78, which connects the Czech Republic and Poland via the border crossing in Chałupki.

2 Wodzisław Śląski is located at the junction of the A1 Motorway, and there are three interchanges within a dozen or so kilometres away: in Mszana (5km [3 miles]), Świerklany (9km [6 miles]) and Gorzyczki (7km [4 miles]). The proximity of the motorway allows one to reach the A1 and A4 Motorways junction in Sośnica in a very short time.

3 Easy access to three airports: Katowice International Airport – 90km (56 miles), Kraków John Paul II International Airport – 130km (81 miles), and Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava – 45km (28 miles).

4 Railway transport is another of the town's assets with regard to communications. Wodzisław Śląski is crossed by Railway 158, which is characterised by its significant potential for international and regional freight and passenger transport.

5 Wodzisław Śląski is an industry-and-service-based town with a population of 47,000, covering an area of 49.51km2 (19.12 sq. mi). As the centre of the Wodzisław District, together with its adjoining gminy [communes], it forms a conurbation inhabited by a population of 158,000. The population density and population distribution patterns within 100km (62 miles) from Wodzisław Śląski, the economic activity characteristics and the general structure of the local industry and commerce create good conditions for the town's development potential. The tens of thousands of the inhabitants of Wodzisław's surrounding area constitute a sizeable purchasing power. Wodzisław Śląski is one of the towns located near the Silesian Metropolitan Area, whose settlement grid density stands out not only on the national scale, but even on the European one. Approx. 9 million people dwell within 100km (62 miles) from the town.

6 Development of entrepreneurship within Wodzisław Śląski is facilitated by the presence of superbly skilled workforce. The extensive education network trains experts which are sought after on the market. In the Wodzisław District, employers from many industries have no trouble recruiting employees who are well-trained and prepared for their profession. The town, having a broad range of personnel, provides great opportunities for developing business undertakings. The young and educated society is a great asset of Wodzisław Śląski and also its greatest potential.

7 Industries that operate within the high-tech sphere have the greatest chances of growth in the town. This was one of the reasons for the establishment of the Silesian Technopolis Cluster in 2014, which is tasked with performing activities for the development of the Hi-Tech industry within the region. Broadly-defined electromechanical industry companies are also predestined.

8 Within the town, there are over 230ha worth of development property, of which 24ha (59 acres) have been incorporated into the Katowice Special Economic Zone.

It should be noted that the KSEZ is one of Poland's most thriving economic zones. Moreover, it was recognised by FDI Business Financial Times as the best economic zone in Europe in 2015–2017. This distinction is reflected in the report “Investment Attractiveness of Poland's Provinces and Subregions” conducted by the Institute for Research of Market Economy, where the Śląskie [Silesian] Province was deemed the most attractive region of Poland in terms of investment.

MINING DRIFT
Training mining drift (one of the three existing in Poland) at ul. Gałczyńskiego, where one can familiarise oneself with a mining technology exhibition. The drift is a complex of mining excavations located several metres below ground. It was launched on 30 November 1984. The drift has become a peculiar regionalism chamber, an attraction reminding people of the mining past of the town, and an element of the cultivation of values related to the miner's profession and to working in a mine. In terms of its structure and equipment, it imitates a mine's underground.

THE ECONOMY OF POLAND

Poland – due to its stable economic and political situation – is a perfect place for investing and developing one's business. Its established macroeconomic position, clear legal and tax system, as well as educated and skilled workforce attract foreign investors. Well-educated Polish economists, engineers, IT specialists and scientists are highly regarded and sought-after employees of IT companies, research and development centres and academic institutes.

With the support of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, which is the central institution in the economic promotion of Poland, optimal business conditions are being created for investors.
